Stocks: Large-Cap – stocks of very large companies (EX: Wal-Mart, GE and IBM); have a market capitalization of between $10 billion and $200 billion (EX: Adobe Systems, Texas Instruments)
Mid-Cap – stocks of companies with a market capitalization between $2 and $10 billion (EX: Netflix and Aeropostale) Small-Cap – Stocks of largely unknown companies with smaller market capitalization between $500 million and $2 billion (EX: Bob Evans Farms and Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure)

401(K) Plan – A type of employer-sponsored retirement plan where money is contributed on a pre-tax basis and all earnings are tax deferred.

Keogh Plan – A type of retirement-savings plan for self-employed professionals or owners of small businesses and their employees; it affords the same tax benefits as a 401(k).
Pension – a fixed sum paid regularly to a person after retirement
Retirement – permanent withdrawal from the work force
Roth IRA – a type of individual retirement account; not tax deductible; not subject to income tax upon withdrawal (after age 59 ½)
Social Security – US government program established in 1935; includes a retirement benefit for citizens; it is funded by a payroll tax
