Here’s a quick review on DVD #1 of Timothy Sykes PennyStocking DVD Course.
On this first DVD of penny stock trading Timothy goes through the following:
Disclaimer - Tim Sykes quickly describes that the PennyStocking DVD course is just for entertainment and educational purpose. However he goes to mention of course, that he is ultimately not responsible for trading losses.
Who is Timothy Sykes - Tim goes through a short description of himself, and how he became popular by taking the barmitzva money given to him of about $12,000 and turned it into $1.5 million.
Basic Stock Market Terminology - In this section of the penny stock trading DVD course, Tim Sykes goes ahead and attempts to educate the viewer on stock market terminology.
Description of Short Selling - Sykes talks about what short-selling is and how to profit from it as it relates to penny stocks, which are stocks that trade from $1 to $5 share price.
Timothy Sykes - PennyStocking DVD 2 - Charting Continued…
In the second PennyStocking DVD by Timothy Sykes he continues to go into how he reads or interprets stock charts. Tim walks you through play by play pattern views and shows you what events happened where. Sykes doesn’t like to play penny stocks with messy charts, and he basically tells the viewer to stay away from stocks with messy charts, until they clear up.
He walks you through in-depth looks at these chart patterns:
- Messy
- SuperNova
- Stair Stepper
- The Snore
- The Crow
Risk Involved - He goes into some details about the risk of trading penny stocks. Tim mentions that you shouldn’t hold the stocks as investment, only profit from short-term movements.
News and Rumors - Tim goes into some details here about how to interpret news and rumors that you here about the particular penny stock that you are trading or monitoring.
Profit From Up and Down Price Movement - He talks about how you should learn to profit from long positions (upward price movement) and short positions (downward price movements).
Chart Basics - Here Timothy Sykes talks about the different types of charts that are available, and the basics of how to read them.
Conclusion: Over all this first DVD of the PennyStocking , penny stock trading course is of course quite basic. If you are a novice definitely watch this first DVD, if you are an intermediate you might want to skip it, however it does make a pretty good review of some fundamentals.
Timothy Sykes - PennyStocking DVD 3 - Trading Rules and More Charting
In DVD 3 of the Tim Sykes PennyStocking trading course, he again goes into details about who he is and how he came to be know as the “Barmitzvah Kid.” He re-iterates the fact that he took his $12,415 Barmitzvah money and turned it into 1.5 million dollars in like 5 years.
Timothy then goes into some detail about some rules he has learned the hard way, and that viewers of DVD 3 of PennyStocking can benefit from these rules which are a result of his mistakes.
- companies don’t matter, only charts matter
- trade the momentum
- only trade 1 or 2 stocks at a time
- small profits of $100-$300 from many many trades add up to big profit.
Tim Sykes then talks about, what is the reason he likes to trade pennystocks. Why of all trading choose penny stocks.
Here are the reasons he outlines:
Positive:
- volatile, Syke’s says volatility is good
- easy to get in and get out
- no large players
- gross manipulation - news, forums and hype can easily move stock not like blue chips
Negative:
- short selling penny stocks are not easy
After the reasoning of penny stocks Mr. Sykes then outlines some more rules for trading penny stocks like don’t invest too much in long shots, and don’t hold penny stocks for too long, see a profit take the profit.
Continuing with his fun, weird personal flare Timothy Sykes finishes of the last third of the duration of DVD 3 with tutorials on some more chart patterns. The chart patterns he teaches are the following:
- Mania -> This is when a stock takes off and keeps going
- Blow Off Top -> This is when a stock goes up, then fizzes away, good for shorting
- Short & Sweet -> Another short example
- Short & Scared -> Stock price collapses and then zig zags unpredictably
Those chart type names are not from any technical analysis textbook as you can tell. I’ve read quite a bit of trading books and have never heard reference to those type of names. However, they are his own take on charts and in the end he describes how he traded those stocks based on the example charts. I guess all that matters is that you learn where to get in and out, based on his chart pattern examples.
In conclusion DVD 3, was quite interesting as Tim Syke’s goes into a little for detail about how he shorts penny stocks and as always he is quite entertaining to watch.
Timothy Sykes - PennyStocking DVD 4 - Charting, Self Publishing and Learn From Mistakes
This review is both about DVD 4 of Timothy Sykes PennyStocking stock trading program as well as a review of the whole course content DVD 1-4. I will fist talk about DVD 4 and then about the overall quality of information of the entire course.
Timothy Sykes PennyStocking DVD 4 Review
In DVD 4 Tim Sykes goes into describing some of the experiences he had in year 2004. He mentions that the year 2004 was a very choppy up and down year for many of the target stocks that he was trading and in 2004 he also decided to further educate himself by reading more business news, company profiles and also to learn about fund managers who were successful and achieved high percentage returns.
Mr. Sykes describes the year 2004 as a year that he screwed up a lot, the extreme volatility of the markets was responsible for swings of profit and losses on a daily basis (inconsistency). He then goes into some details about the stock charts of companies that he traded in year 2004, and mentions that he learned you must learn to change with markets. He pointed out that short selling was very hard when the market was volatile such as in 2004.
One thing about Tim Sykes I’ve noticed when watching the DVDs is that sometimes he would branch of on a tangent, and he will get back to topic. One of the points he talked about was something called “PIPE” which he describes as a scheme by people with self-interest in a particular pennystock, and they will hype it up and push the stock higher…he mentions to watch out for this.
The DVD moves on with Tim Sykes talking to charts of pennystocks in traded in 2005 and then he talks about his trades in 2006 and more charts. In 2006, he decided to try this hands at trading in some start-up companies and he got burned a bit….he warned about trading in start-ups to say the least.
Next he talks about how he went into self publishing with some books and video courses like this one. He mentioned that he got famous and rich from trading and it was a long hard road, but he is crazy for not taking advantage of the opportunity to sell training materials.
He finishes off DVD4 with some advice such as:
- Adapt and take advantage of opportunities
- Learn from your losses and gains
- Talks about focusing on price action, break-outs and break-downs
- Wait for a certain stock to break-out or break-down
- Learn from Tim sykes mistakes
- Understand that trading pennystocks is extremely risking undertaking
Final Review of the entire PennyStocking Course by Timothy Sykes
Well after spending more than 4 hours of my life watching all four DVDs, the questions
1. Was the PennyStocking” video course worth watching?
2. Did I learn anything valuable from it?
3. Does all the information in this course work? Will it make me money?
There is a lot of information to digest in this Tim Sykes Pennystocking course, and watching each hour long DVD had it’s challenges I recommend you take notes…one good thing is that his animated crazy personality does make each DVD entertaining, so it’s not all that boring, was it worth the 4 hours, my answer is “Yes” because in the end you do walk away learning what to do and what not to do from his experiences.
I certainly did learn quite a few valuables facts and lessons that will help me in my own trading going forward, and by taking notes you can always refer back to the particular DVD to re-clarify what you have learned.
Now finally, does everything Tim Sykes work and will it make you money? There is no definite answer to this I think, because he is just relaying to you his experiences and the knowledge he acquired in his many years of trading pennystocks. The experiences include some really big losses and getting beat up by the markets, but in the end he did come out on top and his little profits amounted to a final large sum.
All you can do is heed his warnings and learn to apply the set ups that he has pointed out, in the end you will have to hit the buy and sell button.
Now it is possible you can make some good money by using his knowledge, but in my experience trading for many years of trading, nothing beats honing your trading skills like the experience of getting smash and getting beat up by the market a few times to teach you what not to do. So, to put it simply you will have to take what you learn from Tim Sykes course and put it to the test yourself.
