I just finished watching John Welsh’s DVD! so I thought of throwing in a quick review of what I thought of it.

This review will honestly summarize my perception of what I saw without going into much detail for copyright reasons.

I have about 3+ years of trading experience and during the first year or so I blew away my small trading bankroll twice till I felt comfortable to fund it by a larger amount and try the full time trading career (after 3rd year). With my experience I would say I have already known about 50% of the content. A first year trader would probably know less than 10% of the content presented.

Now focusing on the 50% that I didn’t already know and how I benefited from this DVD..

I liked the detail in how john views the market, what he searches for? how does he analyze a press release? how does he treat gaping stocks?. He is a better trader than I am so his view and experience will definitely be useful to me to improvise. Now I have more insight to why john would tweet “buying(or shorting) 5000 shares of xyz” because he went over numerous thought processes during the DVD so I can kind of imagine now why he would have done that transaction. There is alot of value there for me because the tweet doesn’t make as much money as the process. By the time I see a tweet its usually too late already.

My discipline as a trader has improved dramatically over the years but this DVD helped me alot. Why? because it mirrored my mistakes and john shows the consequences of breaking the discipline he preaches (lots of example trades). I have learned new rules to follow and am now more convinced of the rules I already have so i have less chances of breaking my own rules. John also goes over the loss psychology and how to approach it so traders don’t turn to degenerate gamblers. Every trader gets smoked occasionally and its necessary to arm yourself with a solid discipline. I liked how he views his performance and he has certain ways that help him brush off losing days.

Best part: I liked the trading style he has (scratch trade vs. good trade) . He shows exactly how he executes trades. IMO execution is everything. Big differences between making 100~200$ on a trade and landing a 1~2k trade daily. This isn’t by luck; its a process and again he goes over that.. v. useful I found.

Finally money management, position sizing and the transition he had from a full-time job to a trader was very beneficial for me because I got to hear his experience and compare it to mine so it gave me better insight into the future from here.
